‘Tis the season to be jolly in the City of Trees! Now that we’re in the month of December, the SacramenKnow team has been thinking about what the best place in Sacramento is to buy gifts.
There are so many places to get a gift in the city, so we asked YOU for help.
Here is a list from our SacramenKnowans and CapRadio staff that would maybe help you consider getting your loved ones a gift — if you haven’t already.

Mike’s Camera, located on J Street, sells new and used cameras, lenses and polaroid’s. Keyshawn Davis/CapRadio

“Anywhere local — Mike’s Cameras. My gift idea is film for Fuji and Polaroid cameras. Almost all the teens I know have one and need film.”

— SacramenKnowan Amanda Burnitt

Inside Beers Books, located on 712 R Street is a book store that has a wide selection of books and is connected to a record store. Keyshawn Davis/CapRadio

“A bookstore: East Village, Avid Reader, or Beersss. A book is a gift that people can enjoy and pass on. It’s not a burden to receive.”

— SacramenKnowan Nancy Griffith

Nudge Eco Store on K Street sells eco friendly products in its store. Keyshawn Davis/CapRadio

Alma Ceramics, Nudge Eco Store, The Allspicery, Good Bottle Shop, Cuffs. The Allspicery’s Aleppo pepper caramel candies made with their spices. It’s sweet, smokey and just the right holiday spiced candy treat.”

— Tashina Brito, Senior Development Specialist

Sacramento Honey Company on X street has a large selection of honey products in their store. Keyshawn Davis/CapRadio

“Sacramento Honey Company and Pachamama. Honey, coffee beans, nuts, dried fruit, olive oil, etc. Good quality food items – especially produced locally – feel like a luxury, but can be affordable compared to some gift ideas. It’s great to give something consumable. No one is stuck with something they don’t want. Don’t like honey? Someone you know does – just re-gift and share the love!!”

— Jennifer Halm, Senior Director of Development

Badseed Designs. You can shop online at or find them at events like the Makers Mart coming up on Dec 13th! Some fun and unique locally crafted jewelry goes such a long way. And Badseed has something for all styles! Because each piece is hand-crafted and unique (i.e. not commercialized at all) the receiver knows the choice is really tailored directly to them.”

— Jennifer Reason, Midday Classical Host

Bliss Marketplace. I tried to thrift as much as possible this year or DIY. I found some great silk scarves at one of the booths in Bliss. They have SO many options and even if they don’t wear them around their neck it’s a cute add on to the handle of their purse or you can tie them into a top (if they’re big enough) or wear them in your hair.”

— Emmy Gilbert, Director of Marketing

I’ve been wanting to buy one of these for myself, so selfishly, I think it would be a good gift for someone else. Everyone needs some Sacramento art in their house, and Etsy has 3-D wood maps of the city that jump off the wall. I think it can really make the city you live in feel like home. I first saw one of these in a friend’s house and I couldn’t help but stop and stare every time I walked by it. My friends and I would play a game of pointing out our favorite Sacramento hot spots. It’s an engaging piece to show some hometown pride.

Real Pie Company, located in Curtis Park, has a wide selection of pies from sweet to savory. Keyshawn Davis/CapRadioI think the best gift to give someone is a sweet or savory pie during the holiday season. The Real Pie Company is a great place to get a gift for someone to eat. Just recently, I visited the store and got three different types of pies — Shepard’s, Chicken Pot, and a Sweet Potato. You’ll have to heat the savory pies in the oven or air fryer; they come with instructions. And you can buy the sweet ones by slice or the whole pie.

R Cubed Lifestyle has all kinds of gifts with the best inspirational quotes on them. For the wellness lover, I like treating them to a visit to Asha Urban Baths where you can enjoy a soak in warm pools, sauna, steam room and cold plunge for $40. Linsey, owner of Good Juju Beads, does the cutest permanent jewelry. On Saturday she will be at the Christmas Party at SuperBum, a collective selling local artisan-made gifts. It’s a great place to shop and maybe treat your bestie to a permanent bracelet while you’re there!”
