The Vanden High School boys basketball team won two of its three games at the Meet in the Middle Classic hosted at Bakersfield Christian High School last week.

Junior guard Templeton Fountaine V led the Vikings in both wins. He tallied 20 points and seven rebounds in a 66-54 victory over Legacy Christian Academy on Friday, then followed with 22 points, three steals and three blocks in a 60-58 nail-biter against Bakersfield Christian on Saturday.

Senior guard James Carraway chipped in 14 points, four rebounds and four assists against Legacy Christian, while senior forward Nate Hibbert posted nine points and five rebounds. Hibbert added 10 points and seven rebounds the next day.

Vanden improved to 5-1 and will continue its season against Oakland Tech and Sheldon at the Oates Family Invitational, which tips off Friday at Destiny Christian Academy.

Vacaville Christian 68, Buckingham Charter 20

The Vacaville Christian High School boys basketball team used a dominant 27-point third quarter to trounce Buckingham Charter 68-20 on Saturday.

Senior forward Dylan Eddings recorded an 11-point, 10-rebound double-double, while junior forward Siifan Ayana paced the Falcons with 15 points and added eight rebounds.

The 3-0 Falcons will look to keep rolling against Turlock Christian on Tuesday, while the 1-2 Knights will attempt to bounce back against Foresthill that same day.

Will C. Wood 55, Skyline 29

The Will C. Wood High School girls basketball team bounced back from a two-game skid with a 55-29 victory over Skyline on Saturday.

Senior guard Nateyah Ebuen did a little bit of everything, tallying 11 assists, nine points, seven rebounds and four steals. Junior guard Abigail Ward scored a team-high 13 points, while juniors Tyrene Palmer and Raquel Blanco Lopez added 12 and 11 points, respectively.

The Wildcats improved to 2-2 and will continue their season against Dixon on Tuesday.

Vacaville wins Larry Nelson Classic

The Vacaville High School boys wrestling team went 7-0 over the weekend at the 61st annual Larry Nelson Classic.

Going undefeated and earning all-tournament honors were Landon Wakabayashi at 107 pounds, Ethan Busby (126), Wyatt Thaller (190), Brady Wight (215) and Ezra Cremo (HWT).

The Bulldogs will be back in action at the Evergreen Classic in San Jose on Saturday.

Willis Jepson dominates at Bulldawg Bash

The Willis Jepson Middle School wrestling team had 11 medalists over the weekend at the Bulldawg Bash in Folsom.

Placing for the Jaguars were seventh graders Jackson Slaughter at 89 pounds, Jace Jordan (95), Zeen Orozco (108), Emmet Lopez (116), Diego Sanchez (142), Austin Marcelli (153) and Noah Gonzales (HWT). Eighth graders that placed were Noah Medina (108), Titus Pendelton (112), Mateo Diaz (142) and Mathias Richard (168).

With their performance, Slaughter, Jordan, Orozco, Pendelton, Lopez, Marcelli, Richard and Gonzales qualified for the NorCal Tournament of Champions, which will be held in March. The Jaguars will resume action Saturday at the Jepson Duals.
