The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County resumed dropping Tuesday, decreasing 1.3 cents to $4.609, one day after a run of 12 decreases in 13 days totaling 13.9 cents ended when it was unchanged.

The average price is 8.9 cents less than one week ago and 27.7 cents lower than one month ago, but 20.2 cents more than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and the Oil Price Information Service.

The average price has dropped $1.885 since rising to a record $6.494 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The Orange County average price dropped for the 15th time in 16 days, falling 2.2 cents to $4.522. It has dropped 19.3 cents over the past 16 days, including three-tenths of a cent Monday.

The average price dropped five consecutive days, rose a half-cent Nov. 29 and resumed decreasing Nov. 30. The run began one day after the end of a 12-day streak of decreases totaling 13.9 cents.

The Orange County average price is 10.3 cents less than one week ago and 33.2 cents less than one month ago, but 19.4 cents more than one year ago. It has dropped $1.937 since rising to a record $6.459 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The national average price dropped for the 18th time in 19 days on Tuesday, falling seven-tenths of a cent to $2.945. It has dropped 15.5 cents over the past 19 days, including three-tenths of a cent on Monday.

The national average price dropped 12 consecutive days, rose one-tenth of a cent Wednesday, then resumed decreasing Thursday. It is 5.3 cents less than one week ago, 12.5 cents lower than one month ago and 7.3 cents below what it was one year ago.

The national average price has dropped $2.071 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
