The death of an infant inside a portable restroom in Mission Bay has prompted an investigation by homicide detectives.
The San Diego Police Department said they responded shortly after 1:25 p.m. Monday to the 1600 block of West Mission Bay Drive after receiving reports from an employee removing waste from a portable restroom who discovered an unresponsive infant boy inside.
Firefighters and lifeguards also responded to the scene to assist with medical treatment, but determined the child was dead at the scene a short time later, police said.
Homicide detectives were notified of the suspicious circumstances involving the child’s death and immediately began an investigation.
The names of the child and the parents were not disclosed.
