Tucked away in a small, scenic Northern California town sits a whimsical, pink Victorian mansion that has been turned into a charming getaway. The home is affectionately referred to as “The Pink Lady,” and the recent owners have aptly renamed it The Pinc.
The Victorian home is located in Old Town Eureka, a historic neighborhood on the edge of Humboldt Bay. The Pink Lady Mansion is 133 years old and was built in 1889 by William Carson as a wedding gift for his son. It sits just across the street from the famous Carson Mansion, a grand home that is now a private social club. The Pink Lady is in classic Queen Anne architectural style, marked by the bay windows and turret. The Carson family made their fortune after the Gold Rush, when California’s timber industry was thriving.
The property didn’t stay with the Carson family for long, by the 1920s the property was sold, and passed through various owners over the years. In 1963, the mayor of Eureka bought the home and began restoring it, painting it the now-famous bright pink color.
Today, The Pinc is open for people to stay in the charming guest rooms, including in the turret. You can expect to see beautiful stained glass and high ceilings in the mansion. The owners also plan to open a bubble lounge serving champagne, along with a store selling items from local artisans. They also plan to offer guided tours of the historic home and other educational resources. The property is just a block from the waterfront and numerous other historic Victorian buildings in the neighborhood. Eureka sits along the rugged Northern California coast, and is approximately a 4-hour drive from San Francisco.
