The Alameda County Women’s Hall of Fame, which honors women whose “leadership, innovation, and service have strengthened Alameda County’s diverse communities” is currently accepting inductee nominations through next week.
The deadline for nominations is next Friday (Dec. 19), according to a press release from the organization. Community members across the county are encouraged to nominate inspiring women in fields such as, but not limited to: business, culture, community service, education, justice, science and technology, and sports.

“For more than three decades, the Alameda County Women’s Hall of Fame has celebrated the achievements of remarkable women who are shaping our communities for the better,” Susan Muranishi, Alameda County administrator and co-chair of the Women’s Hall of Fame, said in a Nov. 12 press release. “We invite residents to help us honor these changemakers by nominating women who exemplify leadership, compassion, and service.”
The county-run hall of fame, which has been preserving the stories and legacies of its inductees since 1993, is simultaneously accepting applications for its Mary V. King/Wilma Chan Youth Scholarship Program.
The hall of fame seeks to award up to six, $5,000 scholarships to “outstanding high school seniors who demonstrate academic excellence, community involvement, leadership, and perseverance in overcoming challenges,” according to the organization’s press release. Like the inductee nominations, the deadline for the scholarship application is also next Friday.
Once the winners are announced, the 12 inductees and six scholarship recipients will be honored at the Alameda County Women’s Hall of Fame Luncheon and Awards Ceremony, which will be held on March 28, 2026 at The Club at Castlewood in Pleasanton. According to the hall of fame organization, the proceeds from the event and other related activities will “help fund programs that support women and families across Alameda County.”
