Bakersfield Christian High School Eagles are set to compete in the state CIF Division One championship game tonight, boasting an undefeated season with a 13-0 record. The team will face St. Mary’s High School of Stockton at 4 p.m. in a highly anticipated match at Saddleback College.

Sergio Furtado, the school’s athletic director, expressed excitement for the players and cheerleaders. “This is an amazing time of year. If you’re playing this late in December, it’s a special group,” he said. Furtado highlighted the dedication of the coaches and the community’s support, noting that many families will travel to the game.

Furtado shared a touching moment from the team’s Bible study, where players encouraged each other with scripture. “Last night, I got home, I’m getting choked up. They’re sharing Bible verses with each other,” he said.

Cheerleader Ella Berrigan expressed her excitement for the game, saying, “I’m actually really excited to see how this game plays out and see us take home a big win tonight.” She described the energy and support from fans as “amazing.”

For those unable to attend the game, Bakersfield Christian High School will host a watch party at their Sports Center. Furtado encouraged the community to “pray for our boys” and for safe travels, hoping for a victorious return.
