The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped Friday for the 13th time in 14 days, falling 2.1 cents to $4.552.

The average price has dropped 17.7 cents over the past 14 days, including 1.9 cents Thursday, according to figures from the AAA and the Oil Price Information Service. It decreased nine consecutive days, was unchanged Monday and resumed dropping Tuesday.

The average price is 9.8 cents less than one week ago and 31.1 cents lower than one month ago, but 13.8 cents more than one year ago. It has dropped $1.942 since rising to a record $6.494 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The Orange County average price dropped for the 18th time in 19 days, falling 1.9 cents to $4.453. It has dropped 26.2 cents over the past 19 days, including 2.8 cents Wednesday.

The average price dropped five consecutive days, rose a half-cent Nov. 29 and resumed decreasing Nov. 30. The run began one day after the end of a 12-day streak of decreases totaling 13.9 cents.

The Orange County average price is 11.3 cents less than one week ago and 36.3 cents lower than one month ago, but 13.8 cents more than one year ago. It has dropped $2.006 since rising to a record $6.459 on Oct. 5, 2022.

“Southern California metro area average gas prices are now within five to 15 cents of their lowest levels of the year, which is great news for the record number of local residents who are planning holiday getaways this month,” Auto Club spokesperson Doug Shupe said in a statement.

“Wholesale Los Angeles gasoline prices are continuing to drop, which should continue the downward trend at the pump.”

The national average price resumed dropping, decreasing eight-tenths of a cent to $2.932, one day after the run of 19 decreases in 20 days totaling 16 cents ended when it was unchanged. It is 4.6 cents less than one week ago, 14.3 cents lower than one month ago and 9.4 cents below what it was one year ago.

The national average price has dropped $2.084 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
