(KTXL) – The X Games are coming to Sacramento. A little later than originally thought, but they are coming to California’s capital city.
It was announced on Friday that the first of two X Games League (XGL) summer event stops will be in Sacramento from June 26-28, 2026. (The second stop will be in Japan from July 4-5.)

“The launch of the X Games League marks an exciting new chapter for the athletes and the fans,” said Jeremy Bloom, CEO of X Games, in a news release. “Sacramento and Japan are two places that elevate action sports with their energy, passion, and support. Starting the league in locations that consistently show up for the athletes creates the perfect foundation for what XGL is built to deliver — world-class competition, progression, and unforgettable experiences.”
The X Games, a competition for extreme sports, were originally supposed to take place this summer at Cal Expo in conjunction with their 30th anniversary. Last December, they held a big news conference announcing a three-year partnership. However, organizers ended up postponing the event to work on launching the new X Games League.
When the XGL arrives in Sacramento in the summer of 2026, it will host more than 100 athletes in skateboard, BMX and moto-X, as well as a full lineup of musical appearances, all in partnership with Visit Sacramento.
“Sacramento is proud to bring such a world-class event to both residents and tourists,” said Mike Testa, President & CEO of Visit Sacramento, in a news release. “Hosting the first league event for X Games is not only an honor, but a testament to Sacramento’s investment in providing our community unforgettable experiences.”
