A man suspected of killing his wife in Lancaster then dumping her body in Angeles National Forest has been extradited to the United States from Peru.

Jossimar Cabrera arrived at Los Angeles International Airport around 7:30 p.m. Friday, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Cabrera was subsequently taken into custody and booked on suspicion of murder, a charge initially filed by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office at the Antelope Valley Courthouse, sheriff’s officials said.

Cabrera, 37, was arrested in Peru in late August and had been awaiting extradition.

He is accused of killing his wife, Sheylla Lisbet Cabrera, 33, with a knife on Aug. 10 at their apartment in Lancaster and then fleeing to Peru with their three children.

Her body was found on Aug. 16 at the bottom of an embankment in Angeles National Forest.

The suspect’s arrest came after video from a security camera captured him dragging a large bag from the apartment where the couple and their three children lived. Search and rescue teams noted they found an object that was similar to the fabric that was seen being dragged in the video over the side of an embankment in the forest. Officials said that material was holding the victim’s body.

The woman’s body was found days later in Angeles National Forest. Video broadcast Tuesday Aug. 19, 2025 on the NBC4 News.

Neighbors said Sheylla told them her husband was physically abusive. The case remains under investigation.
