A 35-year-old man with previous convictions and out of custody in a previous case was charged Friday with murder in the stabbing of a man near a drive-thru for a Santa Ana restaurant.

Police were called about 4:35 p.m. Saturday to the drive-through at Pollo Campero at 2320 S. Bristol St., near Warner Avenue, regarding a bleeding man, police said. Christopher Abrego, 43, of Bakersfield, was rushed to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Diego Sartori, of Anaheim, was arrested Wednesday at a Costa Mesa motel. He is accused of getting into a conflict with Abrego before the stabbing, police said.

Sartori also faces sentencing enhancements for the personal use of a deadly weapon and committing an offense while out of custody on a separate case. His arraignment on Friday was rescheduled for Jan. 5 in the Central Justice Center in Santa Ana.

Sartori was wanted on a warrant for failing to appear in court on a felony count of possession of a hard drug with two or more prior convictions, according to court records. He has another pending case of felony possession of a hard drug with two or more prior convictions in May.
