Hundreds of Sacramentans gathered for the annual Santa Parade around the State Capitol on Saturday, with many more participating in the festive event despite the cold weather.Attendees shared their experiences, with Suzy Olsen recalling, “As a family like my parents would bring us here a couple times when I was younger.” Laura Esparza, who has been attending for about ten years, said, “We’re right here with family. We meet here every year.”Dee-Dee Walsh, who used to march in the parade as part of a drill team, expressed her excitement about being a spectator again. “The Perfect spot is a spot to where you can actually see everything. And be comfortable.” She added, “I used to march in it. I used to be in a drill team, so I used to march in the parade. But we actually haven’t been here to be spectators in a long, long time. So I’m excited today.”Jackie Hernandez emphasized the importance of bringing her daughter to the parade while she is still young. “I try to bring my daughter while she’s still little, so I wanna enjoy why she’s still little to bring her out here and enjoy the parade. Before she grows up and then she doesn’t wanna do it anymore,” Hernandez said. The parade featured marchers, dancers, Ghostbusters and numerous dogs, creating a lively atmosphere. Laura Esparza observed improvements in the parade over the years, stating, “It’s gotten better. A lot more floats. A lot more people. Happy little kids.”Dakota Horn, a cheerleader participating for the first time, said, “I just love like the Christmas spirit I get to be in. this is my first year getting to be a cheerleader in it and I was really excited for it.”Sally Cruz expressed her love for the event and the city, saying, “We love to support our city. We love the Sacramento Santa Parade. Christmas parade. Really cold. But we stuck it out.
