NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A large amount of illegal drugs from Northern California was confiscated at Nashville International Airport last week, according to the Nashville Airport Police Department.
An arrest affidavit from December 11 states that the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office in California alerted BNA police about a checked suitcase containing 29 sealed bags of a “green leafy substance” that was discovered by agents with the Transportation Security Administration as it left Sacramento.
The Sacramento County sheriff reported that the suitcase was checked in by 55-year-old Ligeia Hassall, who was intercepted at baggage claim in Nashville by undercover officers, according to the affidavit.
The officers placed her under arrest and found 1.3 grams of methamphetamine on her person, and a search of the suitcase produced 29 sealed bags of marijuana, which combined to weigh 34 pounds, the affidavit states.
Hassall was arrested and charged with delivering a controlled substance and possession of methamphetamine. She is being held on a $75,000 bond at Davidson County Jail.
