Due to the impact of the crash, CHP said it sent the other vehicle that was traveling through the intersection to the left, striking a pedestrian who was on a concrete island that separates the eastbound and westbound lanes.
According to CHP, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
The vehicle continued into the westbound lanes of Elise Avenue and struck multiple vehicles, CHP said.
The driver who struck the pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with minor to moderate injuries, CHP reports.
Another person was transported as well with complaints of minor injuries, according to CHP.
CHP said a person who was inside the overturned vehicle was ejected and possibly struck by another vehicle afterwards.
At this time, CHP said it’s unknown if alcohol or drugs are a factor in the crash.
