Cox Communications has made a $150,000 matching grant to support unhoused students and their families at the Monarch School in Barrio Logan.

The grant will support housing, food security and essential wraparound services at the school, which is the nation’s only kindergarten through 12th grade public school offering a comprehensive program for youth experiencing homelessness.

“We are deeply grateful to Cox Communications for this generous investment in our students and families,” said Debra Molyneux, interim CEO of the Monarch School Project. “Their partnership helps ensure every child has the stability and support needed to learn and thrive, bringing us closer to our vision of a future where an experience of homelessness never defines or limits a child’s promise.”

Cox has supported Monarch School for nearly a decade. Sam Attisha, SVP west region network and field operations, has served on the board of directors since 2020.

“Supporting the Monarch School is about more than education — it’s about restoring dignity, hope, and opportunity for students who deserve a chance to dream big despite unimaginable challenges,” said Attisha. “Cox is honored to champion this mission because when we invest in our youth, we’re investing in brighter futures and a stronger, more compassionate community for us all.”

Thanks to the Cox grant and another matching support grant from the Lucky Duck Foundation, every donation to the Monarch School Project through Dec. 31 will have triple the impact.
