More than 100 students worked to clean up Del Paso Boulevard in Sacramento as part of the Capital College and Career Academy and Old North Sac Partnership’s “Day of Service” event.The event on Tuesday focused on litter and debris removal, landscaping, and cleaning storefronts.The Old North Sac Partnership emphasized that the event is about investing in community confidence in the business district and providing a chance to give back for the holidays.”I hope that they realize that the joy of the season, the joy of being part of this is that you give something that makes other people feel good, that improves their lives,” said Sacramento City Councilmember Roger Dickinson. “That’s the best thing that you can get in life—is when you see other people doing better by virtue of something you have contributed.”Audrey Brookins, a student who participated in the event, experienced that joy firsthand. “It feels really good, and I love seeing it. The Old North Sac Partnership emphasized that the event is about investing in community confidence in the business district and providing a chance to give back for the holidays.
“I hope that they realize that the joy of the season, the joy of being part of this is that you give something that makes other people feel good, that improves their lives,” said Sacramento City Councilmember Roger Dickinson. “That’s the best thing that you can get in life—is when you see other people doing better by virtue of something you have contributed.”
