Two former motels in Long Beach are now 177 permanent supportive homes for people who have experienced homelessness.
Through Homekey, Los Angeles County, the City of Long Beach, and Linc Housing partnered to transform Zephyr and Crescent into welcoming communities that support people on the path from homelessness to stability and independence.
For residents like Lashawn, the impact is life-changing. After a flood and mold made her apartment unlivable and seriously affected her health, she spent more than a year without stable housing. With support from the Long Beach Multi-Service Center, she moved into temporary housing and was eventually approved for a home at Zephyr.
“When I saw the Welcome Home sign in my apartment, I couldn’t believe it was real,” Lashawn shared. “Now it’s peaceful, my health has improved, and I finally feel safe again.”
And another resident put it simply, “I feel better, I’m energized, I sleep better. I feel safe.”
Together, Zephyr and Crescent provide 177 studio apartments, along with shared spaces and wraparound services like case management, health care, and employment support.
