JACKSON, Tenn. – A man wanted for attempted murder after a shooting outside a Jackson family entertainment center was arrested in California on Monday, the U.S. Marshals Service said.
The arrest stemmed from an October 26 shooting outside the Family Fun Center in Jackson that left two people injured; Jackson Police investigated the case and determined Dureico McKinnie to be the shooter, the Marshals Service said.
McKinnie was charged with attempted second-degree murder, reckless endangerment, and employing a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony, Marshals said.
The U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force in Jackson said they were asked to help find and arrest McKinnie; they determined that he’d run to California, and sent information to their Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force in Los Angeles.
On Monday, the Marshals Service said, agents determined that McKinnie was hiding out in a house on Edgewood Street in Inglewood. He was arrested that same day.
“Justice has no borders,” said Tyreece Miller, U.S. Marshal for the Western District of Tennessee. “We commend Jackson Police for their quick work in identifying the shooter and will work with our partners to vigorously pursue violent fugitives no matter where they thing they’re safe from capture.”
McKinnie will be kept in prison in California until he is extradited back to Jackson, the Marshals Service said.
