The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped Friday for the ninth time in 10 days, decreasing six-tenths of a cent to $4.69.
The average price has dropped 3.9 cents over the past 10 days, including eight-tenths of a cent Thursday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
The run began with five consecutive decreases, then was interrupted by an increase of one-tenth of a cent Monday. The run resumed on Tuesday.
The average price is 3.1 cents less than one week ago and 3.4 cents lower than one month ago but 9.2 cents more than one year ago. It has decreased $1.803 since rising to a record $6.493 on Oct. 5, 2022.
The Orange County average price dropped a half-cent to $4.662, the fourth consecutive decrease after back-to-back increases totaling three-tenths of a cent. It has dropped 2.4 cents over the past four days, including three-tenths of a cent Thursday.
The Orange County average price is 3.4 cents less than one week ago and 5.4 cents lower than one month ago but 13.7 cents more than one year ago. It has dropped $1.796 since rising to a record $6.458 on Oct. 5, 2022.
“Southern California gasoline supplies appear to be in good shape as we get closer to Nov. 1, when gas stations will be allowed to start selling the less expensive `winter blend’ of gasoline,” Doug Shupe, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager, said in a statement Thursday.
The national average price dropped for the 15th time in 16 days, decreasing six-tenths of a cent to $3.051. It has dropped 10.9 cents over the past 16 days, including 1 cent Thursday.
The run began with four consecutive decreases. The national average price was unchanged Oct. 6, then resumed dropping the next day.
The national average price is 4.9 cents less than one week ago, 14.9 cents lower than one month ago and 14.4 cents below what it was one year ago. The national average price has dropped $1.965 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
