Clovis police will have additional officers on patrol Friday targeting drivers suspected of operating vehicles under the influence of alcohol or drugs, the department said in a statement.<\/p>\n

Authorities encouraged drivers to designate a sober driver, use ride-share services, look out for others, and report suspected impaired drivers.<\/p>\n
Officials noted that impairment can result not only from alcohol but also from prescription medications, over-the-counter drugs, cannabis, and other substances.<\/p>\n
The DUI saturation patrol is funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.<\/p>\n
