Frank Lopez<\/a><\/p>\nThe Fresno Council of Governments (COG) Policy board has approved the 2026 Measure C Renewal Plan Package this week.<\/p>\n
Fresno COG is a voluntary association of 16 local governments, and one of California\u2019s 38 regional planning agencies.<\/p>\n
A majority of Fresno County\u2019s mayors voted to approve the transportation sales tax which was approved in 1986 to fund transportation projects in the county.<\/p>\n
The proposed plan, projected at $7.39 billion will now be on the November 2026 ballot; without renewal, Measure C will expire in 2027.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe approved a measure designed to address the needs of all communities,\u201d said Fresno COG Policy Board Chair Alma Beltran. \u201cEngaging with diverse groups was essential to achieving this milestone, which represents a significant and historic accomplishment for us.\u201d<\/p>\n
Measure C Renewal Steering Committee gathered regularly beginning in April to develop the expenditure plan. The Fresno COG Policy Board\u00a0 reviewed and amended the Committee\u2019s draft recommendations and authorized the amended plan package as approved by the board.<\/p>\n
Amendments to the package rule that vehicles are allowable expenses on an allocated basis relative to their use on Measure C projects, and adjust the county\u2019s expenditures on Disadvantaged Unincorporated Communities to range from 7-15% instead of 12-15%, depending on the results of a needs assessment study.<\/p>\n
The approved plan package will next be reviewed by city councils throughout Fresno County and the Board of Supervisors for final approval.<\/p>\n

By bringing cities, the County and community voices to the same table, we\u2019ve advanced a balanced package that invests in community priorities.\u201d<\/p>\n
