(KGET) \u2014 A man who pleaded no contest to all charges in connection with an alleged drunken driving crash that injured several people \u2014 including a child \u2014 was sentenced to five years in prison.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Deonicio Gallegos-Ramirez, 35, was sentenced Wednesday, a month after he made an \u201copen plea\u201d in the hope of receiving less time than prosecutors sought.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The plea was made over the objection of prosecutors and accepted by Judge Gloria Cannon.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Around 7 a.m. on Nov. 2, Gallegos-Ramirez was driving a Mazda Miata south on Fruitvale Avenue when he entered the intersection with Hageman Road on a red light, according to police.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><a class=\"link  yahoo-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/news\/articles\/bakersfield-pd-conduct-dui-license-183834108.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:Bakersfield PD to conduct DUI, license checkpoint Friday night;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> Bakersfield PD to conduct DUI, license checkpoint Friday night <\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The Mazda hit an eastbound Mitsubishi Outlander.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Two adults and a child in the Mitsubishi were injured, police said, as was Gallegos-Ramirez.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">He pleaded no contest to felony charges of DUI causing injury and reckless driving, a misdemeanor charge of driving on a license suspended or revoked for DUI and two traffic infractions: failure to stop at a red light and no proof of insurance.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc.
