FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) \u2014\u00a0Winter vacation is a good mid-school-year break for students, who have been working hard since the fall.<\/p>\n
\u201cFresno County data shows improvement all the way across through ELA, mathematics and science,\u201d said Dr. Diane Lira, the Deputy Superintendent of Instruction at the Fresno County Superintendent of Schools.<\/p>\n
While many can\u2019t wait to relax for the next few weeks and enjoy the holidays, for others, it can be a tough time. Dr. Lira says support is critical for students outside of the classroom.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese are times of inconsistencies for our students,\u201d said Dr. Lira. \u201cWhether they depend on that classroom routine, their peers, or colleagues. The home environment might sometimes bring some troubling times.\u201d<\/p>\n
That\u2019s why the Fresno County Superintendent of Schools wants to boost mental health support for students through its All 4 Youth program.<\/p>\n
The program offers services in homes, schools, public settings and at its 12 Wellness Centers, including at Orange Center Elementary School off South Cherry Avenue.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey might need clothing, they might need help filling out an application,\u201d said Trina Frazier, the Assistant Superintendent of Student Services. \u201cThose are the things that are available to all students and all families. We\u2019re also providing mild mental services for students.\u201d<\/p>\n
The wellness centers provide a safe space. Frazier helps oversee the program.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re in 31 school districts in the county. We\u2019re in some charter schools as well,\u201d said Fraizer.<\/p>\n
The free program launched in 2018 and provides support for students up to 25 years old. Frazier tells Action News All 4 Youth is a year-round program. Having that helping hand can make it easier to get back into the school swing.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey are looking for support and when they get it, they\u2019ve been very satisfied with the services from us,\u201d said Fraizer.<\/p>\n
