Families in need in Moreno Valley will have a merry Christmas after all, after a toy drive that was in danger of being canceled due to a lack of donations was saved by do-gooders who stepped in.<\/p>\n
The Unity in Christ Ministries initially had concerns it would have to cancel its annual toy drive after a large donation was canceled at the last minute. Three-hundred families were slated to receive a gift, but a major donor who signed up for the cause backed out just 24 hours before the event, the church said.<\/p>\n
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThe Moreno Valley church is hoping for a Christmas miracle. Christian C\u00e1zares reports for the NBC4 News at 3 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 19, 2025.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
\u201cReally, it\u2019s not our fault that we didn\u2019t meet the deadline but the person that was supposed to give us the toys didn\u2019t come through,\u201d Pastor Billy Davis said told NBC4. \u201cBut, it\u2019s not their fault because they don\u2019t get what they needed, either. We are pushing to see what we can do for the community.\u201d<\/p>\n
After NBC4 reported on the potential cancellation of the drive, the military and a viewer fulfilled those donations.<\/p>\n
The military made a donation of more than 500 toys and an NBC4 viewer spent $800 for the cause and sent those donations to the church via a rideshare.
