BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK\/KBFX) \u2014 A Bakersfield man, Gregory Wisniewski, has been sentenced to four years in prison after pleading no contest to charges related to the shooting death of a teenage boy at his home<\/a> in January 2024.<\/p>\n

Wisniewski pleaded no contest to endangering a child under circumstances likely to result in great bodily harm or death, and improper storage of a firearm in the first-degree, court records show. Four felony counts of endangering a child likely to produce great bodily injury or death were dismissed.<\/p>\n

He admitted to an enhancement of a particularly vulnerable victim.<\/p>\n

The incident happened on Jan. 12, 2024, in a southwest Bakersfield neighborhood. Police responded to the 6100 block of Provincetown Avenue to find 1<\/a>4-year-old Jayden Jackson<\/a> dead from a gunshot wound to the neck inside Wisniewski’s home. <\/p>\n

Court documents revealed that a group of teenagers was at Wisniewski’s residence when they gained access to a gun and began playing with it. <\/p>\n

The gun reportedly misfired, striking Jackson in the neck. Another boy, who was holding the gun, was shot in the hand and told investigators he believed the gun was not loaded. Wisniewski was charged with leaving a gun unsecured and child cruelty.<\/p>\n
