1.\u00a0Wet Christmas week expected across Southern California<\/a><\/p>\n Southern California is in for a wet Christmas week, with four days of rain expected to begin Tuesday, forecasters said Sunday.<\/p>\n A flood watch was issued for Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday evening for much of Los Angeles County, with mud and debris flows possible across foothill and mountain areas, including recent burn scars, according to the National Weather Service.<\/p>\n The agency is also predicting “very strong winds” Tuesday night and Wednesday, with gusts up to 80 mph over the higher peaks in the mountains, and up to 40-50 mph across lower elevations.<\/p>\n The NWS said an “Atmospheric River that has been pointed towards northern California the last few days will shift south and take aim at SoCal” on Tuesday, with less than a half-inch of rain expected Tuesday evening before the heaviest part of the storm occurs after midnight Tuesday night into Wednesday.<\/p>\n 2.\u00a0LA Times: LAFD softened report on Palisades Fire<\/a><\/p>\n A high-profile after-action report from the Los Angeles Fire Department on last January’s Palisades Fire went through several drafts that minimized the department’s failings both before and after the deadly blaze broke out, the Los Angeles Times reported Saturday.<\/p>\n The newspaper said it obtained copies of seven drafts prepared before the final report was issued on Oct. 8.<\/p>\n The LAFD did not comment for The Times story and did not immediately respond to a request for comment from City News Service on Saturday.<\/p>\n 3.\u00a0Pair of LA events mark National Homeless Persons’ Memorial Day<\/a><\/p>\n If you’re homeless, every night is tough, every night a struggle to stay warm and dry and safe. But Sunday evening \u2014 Dec. 21, the official start of winter, the longest night of the year \u2014 might be toughest of all.<\/p>\n Dec. 21 also marks National Homeless Persons’ Memorial Day, symbolically observed every year since 1990 on the first day of winter to remember the thousands of homeless people across the nation who at some point lost that nightly struggle and perished.<\/p>\n In Los Angeles, two events were held Sunday to mark National Homeless Persons’ Memorial Day, honoring the lives of Southland residents who died while unhoused in 2025.<\/p>\n On average, seven homeless people die every day in Los Angeles, “many of them alone and without acknowledgement,” according to the AIDS Healthcare Foundation’s Housing Is A Human Right advocacy organization \u2014 conducted a candlelight vigil Sunday night in Hollywood.<\/p>\n 4.\u00a0Actor James Ransone, known for his role in ‘The Wire,’ dead at 46<\/a><\/p>\n James Ransone, the actor who played Ziggy Sobotka in the HBO series \u201cThe Wire\u201d and appeared in many other TV shows and movies, has died.
