Fourteen people were arrested for driving under the influence during a DUI checkpoint held Saturday night at Fig Garden Drive and Bullard Avenue, Fresno police said.<\/p>\n
The checkpoint, which ran from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m., contacted 364 vehicles and cited 24 drivers for operating a vehicle with a suspended or revoked license, authorities reported.<\/p>\n
Fresno police said the locations of DUI checkpoints are chosen based on reported incidents of impaired driving crashes, with the goal of keeping roads safe by removing suspected impaired drivers.<\/p>\n
The next DUI checkpoint in Fresno is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 27.<\/p>\n
Funding for the operation came from a grant through the California Office of Traffic Safety and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.<\/p>\n
