JUPITER, Fla. (CBS12) \u2014 Police arrested a Jupiter man Thursday, accusing him of pocketing $8,499 in fake refunds from Papa John\u2019s over 10 months.<\/p>\n

Officers with the Jupiter Police Department say they began investigating a Papa John’s employee, 37-year-old Eric Hawrylciw, for stealing from the pizza spot from October 2024 to July 2025.<\/p>\n

The supervisor of the Jupiter Papa John’s location told police that managers had alerted him to the longtime employee’s suspicious behavior, saying he often refunded orders and kept the money for himself.<\/p>\n

During the 10 months, the supervisor said he pinpointed 226 transactions fraudulently cashed out to Hawrylciw. He was also allegedly altering the deposit forms to reflect the store having the correct amount.<\/p>\n

In July, the general manager texted Hawrylciw, saying that the report he sent would likely lead to the store supervisor figuring out his scheme.<\/p>\n

“You have like 50 refunds since the beginning of the period, and they are all under your number. That is not good, dude. You are literally the only one besides “system” that even has any and it’s well over $1,000,” the manager texted.<\/p>\n

The conversation continued with the manager telling Hawrylciw that the amount he stole would amount to felony counts.<\/p>\n

“Yeah my dogs gonna die and I’m goin to jail,” Hawrylciw texted. “F****** f*** me”<\/p>\n

Officials added each fraudulent refund together and found that Hawrylciw allegedly stole $8,499.59 from the pizza place during his shifts.<\/p>\n

After knocking on Hawrylciw’s door in August and finding no suspect\u2014just a lawyer\u2019s business card\u2014the trail went cold.<\/p>\n

But on Thursday, authorities say they caught up with Hawrylciw with Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office deputies booking him on counts of grand theft and defraud to obtain property value less than $20,000.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"JUPITER, Fla.
