CLOVIS, Calif. (FOX26) \u2014 Stranger Things fans don\u2019t have to travel to Indiana, or even the Upside Down, to experience the world of Hawkins.<\/p>\n
A fully immersive Stranger Things-inspired Airbnb opened in Clovis, transforming a more than 100-year-old home into an interactive Stranger Things world. <\/p>\n
The Airbnb interactive experience allows guests to explore themed rooms, solve puzzles, and interact with vintage props straight out of the 1980s.<\/p>\n
\u201cEvery room captures a different element of the show,\u201d said Chris Lofing of Tremendum Pictures. <\/p>\n
What we wanted was for people to feel like they\u2019re walking right into Stranger Things. Not just a fan tribute, but really stepping into Hawkins.<\/p>\n
The home is located minutes away from Old Town Clovis and near Highway 168.<\/p>\n
Lofing and co-owner Travis Cluff are the writers and directors behind the 2015 horror film The Gallows, which was filmed in the San Joaquin Valley. <\/p>\n
Lofing said the idea came to him after he finished watching the Stranger Things series and got the 100-year-old Clovis home.<\/p>\n
\u201cInitially this was all I was going to do: just the ABC wall,\u201d Lofing said. \u201cAs we started, it just kept growing and growing, and we added and added.\u201d<\/p>\n
The home features multiple themed spaces inspired by the show, including an 80’s throwback bedroom, the iconic Byers family living room, a Hawkins Lab-themed bathroom, and a gateway into the Upside Down. The property sleeps up to seven guests across three bedrooms.<\/p>\n
Cluff said the experience resonates even beyond fans of the show.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhether you\u2019ve seen it or not, you\u2019ll come in here and feel transported into your childhood, if you\u2019re my age,\u201d he joked.<\/p>\n
Visitors are encouraged to use working VHS players, cassette tapes, vintage phones, and arcade games. <\/p>\n
\u201cThese are things you don\u2019t even see anymore,\u201d Lofing said. \u201cHere, you can actually use them.\u201d<\/p>\n
While the house includes a few spooky surprises, the owners say the experience is designed to be accessible to everyone.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s all ages \u2014 if you can handle it,\u201d Cluff said. <\/p>\n
The Stranger Things House opened about a year ago, and with continued interest in the release of Stranger Things Volume Two this week, the property is already fully booked through the end of the year. Reservations for the new year, however, are now open.<\/p>\n
