{"id":106493,"date":"2025-12-23T15:52:08","date_gmt":"2025-12-23T15:52:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/106493\/"},"modified":"2025-12-23T15:52:08","modified_gmt":"2025-12-23T15:52:08","slug":"infrastructure-installed-ahead-of-paid-parking-rollout-early-next-year-in-parts-of-old-towne-orange-orange-county-register","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/106493\/","title":{"rendered":"Infrastructure installed ahead of paid parking rollout early next year in parts of Old Towne Orange \u2013 Orange County Register"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Eighteen payment kiosks were installed this month around the Old Towne core as part of downtown Orange\u2019s parking meter program that will soon go into effect.<\/p>\n<p>The city\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cityoforange.org\/our-city\/departments\/public-works\/paid-parking\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">paid parking program<\/a> will span two blocks out from the traffic circle and Plaza Square Park when it goes live in the first quarter of next year. Once implemented, visitors who park in the area anytime between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. would need to pay parking fees ranging from $1.25 to $2 per hour, based on location. Payment can be made through an app or text-to-pay.<\/p>\n<p>The program will have a mix of on-street and off-street parking, with time limits ranging, but capping at three hours.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wpdash.medianewsgroup.com\/ocr-l-ockiosks-1218-01\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" lazyautosizes lazyload\" alt=\"Parking costs range from $1.25 to $2.00 per hour depending on location, with a maximum stay of three hours.(Courtesy of City of Orange)\" width=\"3300\" data- src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/OCR-L-OCKIOSKS-1218-01.jpg\" \/><\/a>Parking costs range from $1.25 to $2.00 per hour depending on location, with a maximum stay of three hours.<br \/>\n(Courtesy of City of Orange)<\/p>\n<p>But parking west of Lemon Street and east of Grand Street, including the Lemon Street parking structure, would remain free.<\/p>\n<p>No-fee parking permits will be issued to those who visit the Orange Senior Center and visitors of the Orange Public Library. And the City Council in October approved a residential permit program within the paid parking area that will be exempt from the time limits.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor downtown businesses and employees who need parking, the city is urging them to utilize the more than 1,000 free parking spaces available in the plaza area,\u201d city spokesperson Charlene Cheng added.<\/p>\n<p>But if people want to park closer to where they work, businesses may be eligible for $50-a-month parking permits to park in otherwise metered spots.<\/p>\n<p>The parking program is set to go into <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cityoforange.org\/our-city\/departments\/public-works\/paid-parking\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">effect in early 2026.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Parking kiosks have been installed around the Old Town area...\" class=\"size-article_inline\"   src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/OCR-L-OCKIOSKS-1218-03-PB.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Parking kiosks have been installed around the Old Town area in Orange, CA on Thursday, December 18, 2025.
