BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK\/KBFX) \u2014 A Muroc Joint Unified School District employee and his wife were arrested on alleged child abuse charges to three children under 14.<\/p>\n
The Kern County Sheriff’s Office said on Oct. 14, 2025, 38-year-old Matthew James and his wife, 35-year-old Brittany James were arrested by Mojave\/Boron substation deputies after they responded to a report of possible child abuse in the North Edwards area. Deputies identified three victims of suspected child abuse under 14 years old in the investigation.<\/p>\n
KCSO said Matthew is a Muroc Joint Unified School District employee.<\/p>\n
The juveniles were taken into CPS protective custody.<\/p>\n
Matthew and Brittany James face several charges, including felony child endangerment, assault on a child under 8 likely to produce great bodily injury resulting in a child’s death, assault with force likely to produce bodily injury, torture, false imprisonment, and conspiracy. <\/p>\n
