{"id":108569,"date":"2025-12-25T07:32:16","date_gmt":"2025-12-25T07:32:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/108569\/"},"modified":"2025-12-25T07:32:16","modified_gmt":"2025-12-25T07:32:16","slug":"sacramento-sheriffs-deputy-dies-in-crash-while-driving-to-work-in-storm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/108569\/","title":{"rendered":"Sacramento sheriff\u2019s deputy dies in crash while driving to work in storm"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">A Sacramento County Sheriff\u2019s Office deputy was identified Wednesday afternoon as the motorist killed in a single-vehicle crash early that morning amid wet, windy conditions brought on by a Northern California storm.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Deputy James Caravallo died in a crash just before 6 a.m. while driving to work at the Rio Cosumnes Correctional Center, according to a Sheriff\u2019s Office social media post and California Highway Patrol news release.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The crash was reported just before 6 a.m. on Franklin Boulevard north of Point Pleasant Road, about 2 miles south of Elk Grove, according to Officer Michael Harper, a spokesperson for the CHP\u2019s South Sacramento office.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Harper said Caravallo was driving a Chevrolet southbound on Franklin Boulevard at an unknown speed when he lost control of the vehicle. The car crossed into the oncoming lane, traveled onto the east shoulder and struck a metal power pole on the driver\u2019s side.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/sacsheriff\/status\/2003970080170971546\/photo\/1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Sheriff\u2019s Office in a post to X;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Sheriff\u2019s Office in a post to X<\/a> just before 3:30 p.m. said Caravallo died while driving to Rio Cosumnes Correctional Center, a county jail facility near Elk Grove. Sheriff\u2019s Office spokesperson Lt.
