The family that owns Fresno\u2019s popular Where\u2019s The Food truck<\/a> is asking for the community\u2019s help through this GoFundMe<\/a> as Lida Nguyen, the wife and mother of the family, is dying of cancer.<\/p>\n

Mike Osegueda, founder of the Fresno Street Eats<\/a> food truck event, organized the fundraiser . Osegueda has been a long-time friend to Nguyen and her husband, Henry Wickman, who in 2015 started operating Where\u2019s The Food, known as the WTF food truck.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019re just good, hardworking people,\u201d Osegueda told The Bee on Wednesday. \u201cThey\u2019re true examples of what it\u2019s like to be a food truck entrepreneur.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fresno Street Eats announced the GoFundMe on social media Tuesday. Its goal is to raise $24,000 and by Wednesday afternoon it has raised $14,498.<\/p>\n

Osegueda said the family is proud, so they previously did not ask for the community\u2019s help despite Nguyen having been diagnosed with cancer a few years ago. But she is now in hospice care , so community donations will help Wickman give his wife a burial and provide the family some financial support, Osegueda said.<\/p>\n

He said Nguyen and Wickman have three daughters.<\/p>\n

Fresno restaurant community coming together to help food truck owners<\/p>\n

About a year after the married couple opened the WTF food truck<\/a> , they said in an interview with The Bee that the WTF name was born from the frustration they experienced while trying to think of a name.<\/p>\n

The truck is known for its Mexican-Asian fusion and creative menu options.<\/p>\n

Osegueda told The Bee Nguyen \u201cwas the creative mind behind a lot of the menu.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said being a food truck entrepreneur does not come with the same security as other careers.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf the food truck\u2019s not out there, they\u2019re not generating any income,\u201d Osegueda said. \u201cThe kinds of things happen in the business, you prepare for that. But you don\u2019t necessarily prepare for cancer or life and death.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said Fresno\u2019s food truck and restaurant community \u2014 including owners and customers \u2014 have already stepped up to help the family with donations.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019ve definitely made an impact in the community,\u201d Osegueda said. \u201cYou can see that based on the other people that are donating.\u201d<\/p>\n
