BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK\/KBFX) \u2014 Two typically quiet neighborhoods in Bakersfield were rocked by separate shootings on Christmas night, leaving residents in shock and concern. <\/p>\n

Bullet holes were found in a car involved in a shooting near the intersection of San Emidio and Elm Streets in Bakersfield. Neighbors say they\u2019re scared about the future of their neighborhood. kbak\/kbfx<\/p>\n

The Bakersfield Police Department responded to both incidents, which disrupted the holiday festivities.<\/p>\n

In one neighborhood near San Emidio and Elm streets, a resident described hearing “maybe seven gunshots back to back with a pop, pop, pop, pop, pop.” <\/p>\n

A longtime resident, who has lived in the area for 46 years, recounted off-camera how a car crashed into her home shortly after the gunfire, tearing through a wall and dragging a cactus. <\/p>\n

She believes the crash occurred as someone was being chased and shot at. <\/p>\n

David Flores, another resident, said, “All the windows are shot out, and there’s bullet holes in the car,” adding, “That’s where the guy got shot.”<\/p>\n

Police have not released further details about the shooting, but residents shared information and camera footage with officers. <\/p>\n

An anonymous resident reported that police informed them the person shot had already been taken to the hospital. <\/p>\n

A couple, who also wished to remain anonymous, expressed their concern, saying, this is worrisome, and she doesn’t know why this is happening.<\/p>\n

In a separate incident across town, police responded to a shooting in the 2700 block of Blade Avenue around 10 p.m. on Christmas night. <\/p>\n

Witnesses reported seeing a body being loaded into a van, with multiple police and crime scene vehicles present. <\/p>\n

Bakersfield police confirmed the incident was a murder-suicide, with two people, a man and a woman, found dead. <\/p>\n

Cassandra Musselman, a resident, said, “Our neighborhood is very quiet. We say hi to each other, we look out for each other,” adding, “To hear that that happened is very sad and very concerning.”<\/p>\n
