One person is dead and nearly a dozen others were hospitalized following a fiery crash involving a semi-truck in Boyle Heights.<\/p>\n
The crash was reported shortly after 5 a.m. on the southbound 5 Freeway in Boyle Heights, according to the California Highway Patrol. There, a semi-truck and eight other vehicles were involved in a crash, which led to one vehicle catching fire.<\/p>\n
Fifteen people were medically assessed at the scene by emergency personnel and of those individuals, 10 were taken to the hospital. The severity of their injuries was not disclosed.<\/p>\n
CHP did not reveal details on the deceased, such as their identity, gender or possible age.<\/p>\n
As a result of the crash, the transition road from the southbound 5 freeway to the westbound 10 Freeway will be closed until further notice.<\/p>\n
