Evacuation centers opened across Los Angeles County for last week\u2019s rainstorms were closed Sunday as the Southland experienced a return to dry skies, with more rain forecast for New Year\u2019s Eve.<\/p>\n
Red Cross LA closed the following shelters as of Sunday:<\/p>\n
\u2014 Stoner Recreation Center, 1835 Stoner Ave., Los Angeles;<\/p>\n
\u2014 West Ranch High School, 26255 Valencia Blvd., Stevenson Ranch;<\/p>\n
\u2014 Santa Anita Family YMCA, 501 Mountain Ave., Monrovia;<\/p>\n
\u2014 Marie Kerr Recreation Center, 2723-A W. Rancho Vista Blvd., Palmdale.<\/p>\n
Evacuation orders and warnings were issued near recent burn scars amid four days of rain last week, but were lifted by Friday evening.<\/p>\n
The storms set multiple rainfall records across Los Angeles County. According to Mayor Karen Bass, the Los Angeles Fire Department deployed teams to five river rescue incidents, the Los Angeles Police Department responded to more than 520 traffic accidents, and city crews received requests for more than 750 tree emergencies, including downed trees and fallen branches.<\/p>\n
A rare tornado was recorded in Boyle Heights, and a body was found Friday in a partially submerged car following heavy flooding in an isolated area of Lancaster.<\/p>\n
This week\u2019s storm activity is expected to be less intense, but will still bring multiple days of rainfall to the area during New Year\u2019s celebration, threatening to put a damper on Pasadena\u2019s annual Rose Parade and Rose Bowl game. <\/p>\n
As of Sunday, the forecast for Pasadena shows rain Wednesday night and most of the day Thursday.<\/p>\n
