Saturday, the Kings put up four goals in a period for the first time since last season when they scored four against San Jose on March 30. They effectively rode those 20 minutes to victory, though Laferriere spiced up the third period by completing his first career hat trick.<\/p>\n
Two of Laferriere\u2019s goals came off plays from below the goal line and he nearly scored on another opportunity originating there. More play low in the zone and extended cycles, as well as well offensive contributions from defensemen, unlocked levels for what had been an impotent offense.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou want to create as much o-zone time as you can and just kind of make something happen off of that,\u201d captain An\u017ee Kopitar said. \u201cI thought we were attacking the net pretty well and that\u2019s why all those maybe a little prettier plays open up like that.\u201d<\/p>\n
