If you\u2019ve been drinking or taken drugs that impair, make the right choice by finding a sober driver or alternate transportation to take you places.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Police reminded the public that impairment is not limited to alcohol. Some prescription medications and over-the-counter drugs can interfere with driving, and drivers are urged to read warning labels and follow directions for use. While medicinal and recreational marijuana are legal in California, driving under the influence of marijuana remains illegal.<\/p>\n<p>Drivers arrested and charged with a first-time DUI face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, along with a suspended driver\u2019s license, police said.<\/p>\n<p>The saturation patrol is funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014<\/p>\n<p>Connect with\u00a0\u00a0on social media.
