Another Edmonton Oiler has been activated off of Long-Term Injured Reserve, but this one will be going to the AHL.\u00a0<\/p>\n
On Monday, the Oilers activated Connor Clattenburg<\/a> and loaned him to the Bakersfield Condors, where he started the season. He last was in the lineup for the Oilers on Dec. 4 against the Seattle Kraken.\u00a0<\/p>\n The 20-year-old has been dealing with an eye injury that began after being high-sticked in that game. <\/p>\n According to Jason Gregor<\/a>, the stick caused internal swelling near the eyeball<\/a>, which required Clattenburg to rest and not risk strenuous exercise to keep potential swelling at bay.\u00a0<\/p>\n Clattenburg played five games with the Oilers and provided youthful energy and moxie<\/a>, while also scoring his first NHL goal and accumulating 13 penalty minutes. His fiery play was seen on Nov. 29 at Seattle<\/a>, where Clattenburg dropped the gloves with Frederick Gaudreau and won the scrap.\u00a0<\/p>\n He does not have to go through waivers, and the move could be a conditioning stint.\u00a0<\/p>\n The Oilers\u2019 forward group is thinning out as they get healthier, with Noah Philp claimed<\/a> off of waivers on Monday by the Carolina Hurricanes, and David Tom\u00e1\u0161ek\u2019s contract<\/a> sent through waivers to be terminated.\u00a0<\/p>\n
