WASHINGTON (TNND) \u2014 Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., predicted over the weekend that the Democrats would win back the House in 2026.<\/p>\n

Pelosi did an interview with ABC News journalist Jonathan Karl which aired on Sunday.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo if the Democrats win the House back,\u201d Karl said during the interview.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo, no, when,\u201d Pelosi interrupted, according to The Hill newspaper<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\u201cWhen the Democrats win the House back.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pelosi said that when Democrats take back the House in 2026, her successor, Hakeem Jeffries<\/a>, D-N.Y., will be the House speaker.<\/p>\n

\u201cHakeem Jeffries is ready, he\u2019s eloquent, he\u2019s respected by the members, he is a unifier,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

In order to take back the majority in the House, Democrats have to flip three seats.<\/p>\n

Pelosi is one of the many members of Congress not running for re-election in 2026.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs we go forward, my message to the city I love is this: San Francisco, know your power,\u201d Pelosi said in her departure announcement<\/a>. \u201cWe have made history; we have made progress. We have always led the way, and now we must continue to do so by remaining full participants in our democracy, and fighting for the American ideals we hold dear.\u201d<\/p>\n
