The rehearsal session took place in the gym of the Miguel Contreras Learning Center due to rainy weather conditions.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>                                    <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theeastsiderla.com\/users\/profile\/Monica%20Rodriguez\" rel=\"author nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Photo by Monica Rodriguez<\/a><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Rain or shine, members of the LAUSD All-District Honor Marching Band are preparing for their appearance in Pasadena\u2019s 2026 Tournament of Roses Parade on January 1st.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">That means heading indoors sometimes, as the band did recently when they welcomed parade officials to the gym of Miguel Contreras Learning Complex.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Tournament of Roses President Mark Leavens presented the participation flag to Tony White, the band\u2019s director, Superintendent Alberto M. Carvalho, along with School Board members Scott Schmerelson, Rocio Rivas, and Sherlett Hendy Newbill.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">A total of 360 students from across the district are in the band, White said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Eastside high schools that have students in the band are:\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Belmont<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Eagle Rock Jr.\/Sr.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Franklin<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Garfield\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Roosevelt<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Torres<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The All-City Band, as the marching band is sometimes referred to, is one of only four bands that have a standing invitation to participate in the parade.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Leavens told band members they aren\u2019t just \u201cthe best of the best\u201d among their peers.
