Ben Hensley<\/a><\/p>\nThis month, Wellpointe Inc. marked the opening of a new affordable senior living facility in Fresno, expanding its Fresno Guest Homes brand through a state-funded effort aimed at increasing housing capacities for vulnerable populations.<\/p>\n
The location, which celebrated its opening on Dec. 15, was developed using grant funding awarded by the state of California to support efforts to expand adult and senior residential care for those receiving government assistance, such as Supplemental Security Income, State Supplementary Payment and Cash Assistance Programs for immigrants.<\/p>\n
Representatives from the Assembly Health Committee, including Mia Bonta \u2014 chair of the Assembly Health Committee, joined Wellpointe\u2019s leadership team for a ribbon cutting ceremony and tour of the home, highlighting the role of public-private partnerships in the efforts to expand community-based care.<\/p>\n
The home, located at 2349 E. Menlo Ave., was expanded to 2,600 square feet and redeveloped to include six private bedrooms and five bathrooms (private and semi-private).<\/p>\n
Renovations included newly expanded living and dining areas, a fully refreshed kitchen with updated appliances, a finished outdoor area that includes drought tolerant landscaping with an accessible walking path and peaceful spaces for relaxation.<\/p>\n
\u201cProjects like this one with Wellpointe and Fresno Guest Homes demonstrate how state funding, paired with provider partnership, can increase capacity and improve access to quality housing and care for those who need it most,\u201d said David Swanson Hollinger, chief deputy director, California Department of Social Services (CDSS).<\/p>\n
The so-called Fresno Guest Home #28 joins a collection of 40 co-located Fresno Guest Homes residential communities, 15 of which have been added in 2025, addressing the urgent need for affordable assisted living and underscoring Wellpointe\u2019s unwavering commitment to provide access to high-quality housing and care to Medi-Cal beneficiaries, according to a news release.<\/p>\n
