One man was dead after a confrontation at an apartment complex with an off-duty Homeland Security officer on New Year’s Eve in Northridge, police said.<\/p>\n
Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department responded to the 17701 block of Roscoe Boulevard and Amestoy Avenue at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday after a report of a man allegedly armed with a rifle who was firing shots in the air.<\/p>\n
An off-duty officer investigated after hearing the gunfire and, at some point, the suspect was shot, the LAPD told NBC4 Investigates. The person died at the scene.<\/p>\n
Details about what led up to the shooting were not immediately available.<\/p>\n
