A 3.6-mile stretch of Topanga Canyon Boulevard will reopen early Friday after being closed ahead of recent storms, according to Caltrans.<\/p>\n
CalTrans authorities said State Route 27 between Pacific Coast Highway and Grand View Drive is scheduled to reopen by 5 a.m. after crews complete the removal of debris flows from the roadway. The highway was closed preemptively on Tuesday, Dec. 30, due to anticipated rain.<\/p>\n
The roadway remains an active work zone for recovery efforts related to the Palisades Fire and winter storms and is normally closed to the public from midnight to 5 a.m. daily. Motorists are urged to drive with caution and expect delays.\u00a0Caltrans said debris flows continued while the highway was closed, and additional rain forecast for the weekend could require another closure.<\/p>\n
The section of SR-27 will reopen under previous restrictions.<\/p>\n
A 25-mph speed limit is in effect through the work zone. Parking, stopping and pedestrian access are prohibited, Caltrans said. Fines may be doubled in work zones.<\/p>\n
Authorities urge drivers to use extra caution, especially on blind curves and near one-way sections, and look out for workers and slow-moving vehicles.<\/p>\n
