\nJanuary- Winter Sports & Snow Parks<\/a>

Fresno County\u2019s nearby mountains turn into a winter playground this time of year. Spend the day sledding, tubing, or snowboarding at spots like China Peak<\/a> and local snow parks near Shaver Lake<\/a>. Just 90 minutes from the city, it\u2019s the perfect cold-weather escape without a long drive.<\/p>\n

Drive along a path of pink and white blossoms and see why there is\u00a0nothing like a California winter.\u00a0Nearly 70 miles long, check out special events in\u00a0celebration of the blooming fruits such as the annual Kings River Blossom Trail Bike Ride, and the opening trail ceremony held by the Sanger Chamber of Commerce. Spring kicks off with FresYes Fest<\/a>, a downtown Fresno block party celebrating local food, craft beer, live music, and local vendors bringing their craft in an open-air market. April is all about Old Town Clovis,\u00a0with the start and end of the month hosting some of the largest events of the year in Clovis.\u00a0\u00a0Big Hat Days<\/a> kicks things off with one of Central California\u2019s largest street festivals. Then, saddle up for the Clovis Rodeo,<\/a> a tradition that\u2019s been going strong for over 100 years and brings over 50,000 people to the area every year! Dust off your boots and hats for these events, as it begins to warm up in Fresno County while the season is in full swing!<\/p>\n

Baby animal season comes upon us in the spring!\u00a0In 2024, the zoo celebrated the birth of its first-ever African elephant calves, Thando and Davu, who are now exploring their habitat and bonding with the herd. Additionally, lion cubs Asali and Taraj made their public debut in March 2025, giving us the\u00a0chance to watch\u00a0the baby lions\u00a0as they grow and play in the zoo’s African Adventure exhibit<\/a>! The Meux Home Museum<\/a> is a tour of a historical Victorian-era home and shares the early history of Fresno and the Meux family.
