\n\tMickey Rourke<\/a> launched a GoFundMe on Sunday in hopes of avoiding eviction.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn December, the Oscar-nominated actor was served a notice to pay roughly $60,000 in back rent or vacate his Los Angeles home (via People<\/a>). The GoFundMe, titled \u201cHelp Mickey Rourke Stay in His Home<\/a>,\u201d has raised $5,290 so far with a goal of $100,000.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cMickey Rourke entered American cinema like a force of nature\u2014raw, fearless, and utterly original,\u201d reads the donation page description. \u201cIn the late 1970s and 1980s, he wasn\u2019t just a movie star; he was a symbol of something rare: danger paired with vulnerability, toughness paired with heart. From \u2018Diner\u2019 to \u2018Rumble Fish\u2019 to \u20189\u00bd Weeks\u2019, Mickey gave audiences performances that felt lived-in, not performed, and left a permanent mark on American film culture.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe blurb goes on to say that after Rourke stepped away from acting for boxing, he was burdened with \u201clasting physical and emotional scars\u201d and abandoned by \u201cthe industry that once celebrated him.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cFame does not protect against hardship, and talent does not guarantee stability,\u201d the description adds. \u201cWhat remains is a person who deserves dignity, housing, and the chance to regain his footing.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tRourke\u2019s major breakout was Francis Ford Coppola\u2019s 1983 drama \u201cRumble Fish.\u201d His other notable credits include \u201cThe Pop of Greenwich Village,\u201d \u201c9\u00bd Weeks,\u201d \u201cAngel Heart\u201d and \u201cBarfly,\u201d as well as more recent films like \u201cMan on Fire,\u201d \u201cSin City\u201d and \u201cThe Wrestler.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tRourke was recently attached<\/a> to a new independent thriller, \u201cMascots,\u201d written and directed by Kerry Mondragon. However, Udo Kier, who died in November 2025<\/a>, was supposed to co-star, so it is unclear how the production will proceed.<\/p>\n
