Everyone had to up their game, trying to compete with the legendary California Vietnamese restaurant’s new location. Unless one visits sister progenitor restaurant Thanh Long in the Outer Sunset, there are few restaurants producing what Crustacean serves in the Financial District.

This restaurant was definitely born in that Shangri-la of the Beverly Hills. That isn’t a bad thing. It means there’s a check-in room, a lounge and bar to wait for your party, and a sprawling dining room. One might use the words glittering, and plush.

Parking in the FiDi is infamously difficult. There are nearby BART stations for those traveling, and for those in the city there are plenty of bus routes that stop nearby. If you do park, prepare to pay for a parking garage.

Crustacean opened on Pine Street in 2025 and, doing so, put a thumb on downtown’s dining scene.
