(KGET) \u2014 A short delay was granted Monday in the trial of a man accused of driving drunk when his pickup reversed at high speed into multiple pedestrians at the 2023 Bakersfield Christmas Parade.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Judge John W. Lua granted a defense request to postpone the trial to Thursday. A courtroom hasn\u2019t been selected.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Alan Lewis Booth, 74, is charged with four counts of assault with a deadly weapon, two DUI-related counts and resisting arrest.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Several people were injured, one seriously, in the Dec. 7, 2023, crash.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">According to police reports, Booth had a blood-alcohol content of 0.28%, more than three times the legal limit.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">He was released on bail but arrested months later on suspicion of driving on a suspended license with a BAC of 0.24%, reports say. Misdemeanor charges were filed in that case and he\u2019s been held without bail since then.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Copyright 2026 Nexstar Media, Inc.
