\n\tRupert Murdoch<\/a>\u2018s California Post has a launch date, with executives at News Corp<\/a>. telling staff that it will be \u201csetting the agenda, entertaining and disrupting the status quo.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe California Post will launch on Jan. 26, in both digital and print, setting up its newsroom on the Fox studio lot in Century City.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cJanuary 26 is our moment,\u201d NYP Media Group editor-in-chief Keith Poole and California Post\u00a0editor-in-chief Nick Papps wrote to staff in a memo Monday. \u201cThe California Post\u00a0officially premieres thanks to this remarkable team who believed in the vision and did the hard work to bring it to life. We\u2019re proud, grateful and just getting started.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe California Post is an audacious bet by News Corp., now controlled by Lachlan Murdoch (though Rupert is still involved), and led by CEO Robert Thomson, to bring to the west coast what The New York Post has brought to New York: Populist, entertaining journalism that takes aim the (mostly liberal) political elite, mixed with boots-on-the-ground reporting, significant local sports reporting, and gossip anchored by a west coast version of Page Six, which will be led by Ian Mohr<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWe will be proudly representing the values of everyday hard-working Californians. They will be at the center of all we do, not the elites, the powerful or the corrupt,\u201d Papps said. \u201cAlready, the reaction to our arrival and investment in journalism in this state has been so positive. People are tired of legacy media, they want change, and that change starts on January 26.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tNews Corp. announced its planned California expansion<\/a> last summer, targeting The Los Angeles Times and other local media.<\/p>\n
