Protesters around the region had plenty to say at Saturday\u2019s \u201cNo Kings\u201d events in Southern California<\/a> \u2013 including young kids. Here\u2019s what was on some of their minds:<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re doing this for our families. We\u2019ve got 12 grandkids, 5 great grandkids, and we\u2019ve got to worry about what their futures are going to be like \u2026 and it\u2019s not looking good, unless we can get this country back where it\u2019s supposed to be and democracy in control.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2013Larry Bace of Fontana<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think we\u2019re freer, I don\u2019t think we\u2019re safer. I think life is getting worse in the country for whole segments of the population, and obviously more vulnerable populations are living in fear. I just think this is not America.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2013Corey Leis of Long Beach, whose poodle was gussied up as an \u201cAntifa K-9 Unit\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWe all know where our strength is: together. If we don\u2019t stand up now, they could take it away \u2014 this democracy that we stand for. We\u2019re still the United States of America; that means all of us, and the true king is the U.S. Constitution, not a wannabe dictator.\u201d<\/p>\n

This administration is taking action unilaterally and that\u2019s not right. I think there are literally millions who feel as we do. To participate in one of these (rallies) you get the sense of hope, that you\u2019re not alone. It gives strength and encouragement \u2026 and the hope that we can see something turn around.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2013Gary Reinschmidt of Fontana<\/p>\n

\u201cFamilies are struggling, seniors are struggling, veterans are struggling,\u201d Wilkinson said. \u201cOur children are scared to go out. People are scared to go to work. There\u2019s no reason for this to be going on right now.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve seen this before, I lived through (martial law). But things are changing here, look around; it sends a signal to the politicians, the government, that people are not happy with what\u2019s happening. I\u2019m a part of this community now, and this is not the America I immigrated to. It\u2019s bad for me personally, for my own kids, for people in general.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cScientific research is the crown jewel of America. And we\u2019re losing it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe knows that his policies are deeply unpopular. They are unpopular with Democrats. They are unpopular with Independents. They are unpopular with Republican leaders.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2013State Sen. Sasha Renee Perez, (D-Alhambra)<\/p>\n

\u201cWe may not see it right away, but eventually the people\u2019s voices will be heard.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re fighting for our rights, for our democracy \u2026 to get to make our own choices.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been fighting for our rights ever since Donald Trump got elected again. As a young person, I know that I am the future, so this is something I have to do.\u201d<\/p>\n
